they are on the stock 6inch rims, i run about 35psi so they wear more evenly. they seem to be doing pretty well.

I just put 36x12.5 michelin mt (military tires) on my stock height truck. I had to do some trimming though. When I turned the driver's side contacted the pitman arm and pulled the rubber boot off before I got a chance to change the stop setting. Other than that, it steers lock to lock no problem. I going to post pics as soon as it's warm enough to wash it first.

I ran 33x12.50 and 35x12.50 BFG M/T's and the 35's rubbed just a little but the 33's were fine. Good luck geting 20,000 if that on the Wrangler RT II on a heavy truck like ours. Not trying to hurt any feelings but those tires are junk and thats why they cost $50 for nearly new at the surplus tire place in Waco. Trust me I just pulled a set off of mine that I had borrowed. I just had to use them till I got my other tires. Think God they were free to use. Still have the HUMMER two piece rims though.

When you say Michelin RT II, I assume you're talking about the tires in the pictures?

I am going to go with 285/75/16 for my stock rims. BFG, I wont buy either, didnt get many miles from them, less than 20k. Most mileage I got was from Michelin ( 55k).

I would like to go a bit bigger, but dont know if I have to buy new wheels to go to a 305-315 tire.

The stock wheels aren't near wide enough to handle a 305. When it comes to the military michelin MT I would think they would wear just fine being that they are completely solid running down the center. Just remember that many things govern tire wear.

Wrangler not Michelin. RT II's are Early model HUMMER tires. The tires in the pics are Michelin XL's. If thats not the ones you were talking about I apologies The RT II is just the only military 36x12.50x16.5 that I know of. I know lots of guys that have run them and have never lasted long. I have a friend that runs 38' Michelin XML's on a Jeep M715 1 1/4 ton that we put a 97 Cummins in. I have got 37K- 48K on 3 sets of BFG's and put my 4th set on yesterday (33's), and im not exaggerating 2 sets of 33's and 1 set of 35's . 37K had lots of burnouts. Thats the only tires that I have run on both my truck and I tow a lot, except when I borrowed those RT II's and thats only because they were on the rims when I bought them. Good luck with what ever you by, its all personal preference I guess. Sorry we got off track.

285s are too wide for the stock rims. I have them on and they don't quite fit the rim very well. You basically have a 9 1/2" tread width on a 6" rim. Too wide. It'll work, but they'll wear in the middle no matter how much air you put in them. If you run less than around around 50 pounds to offset the bad fit they start to feel pretty squirmy on the pavement. That's just my impression of the BFGs the PO mounted on my truck. YMMV.

tires

if you dont want to go wide the ones i got are the way to go the are about 36 inches high and 9 wide since they are not wide you can go higher without rubbing and these tires are cheap around here i can get them for about 500 a set
