ok, i was getting ready to pull my IP and a thought i would take a look at the timing marks....it looks to me that somebody had already advanced the timing on my truck....if you look closely at these horrible pics (i'm sorry) it looks like theres two marks....and they definitly don't line up.... let me know if im crazy of not....THANKS!

there definitly isnt any mark on the timing case to match up to the one on the IP....just one a 1/4" below the mark on the IP...i find this funny because there were 0 other mods to the engine when i bought the truck....i also find it disappionting because i figured that was some power i had on reserve...

 

You call that 1/4" wow i think i have 1/8" then... Coulda sworn i measured it right, then again i was tired.

 

i have heard that non-intercooled trucks have more timeing then ic trucks from factory. is this true? if so would it be better to bump a non-ic truck a 1/4 or 1/8 when trying to make more power?

 

Sometimes it takes a bit of experimenting to find the setting that runs best on a given engine too.

 

When I replaced the IP on my non IC 90, the pump was turned ALL the way to the head and then tightened down. It did not make any sense because the same instructions had me mark the old pump before I pulled it out. So I guess I "bumped" my timing and didn't even know it......Mark

 

so im asumeing it ran real well after the install lol?

 

I've been told that my non/ic was .25" retarted from that factory line. They bumped it to the line, and i bumped it a little further. Seems to run fine, i never really could tell much difference between a few degrees.

 

i didn't measure it but its around a 1/4 of an inch....it could go a little further......i just wonder if they did the timing bump by accident when they did the recall on my pump....i believe i read somewhere on the internet that there was a recall on most of these pumps and it would be marked a certain way(i cant remember how) if it was already done...and i remember mine was marked....also my pump says remanufactured on it...

 

humm... i know if i was replacing pumps i'd bump them a little and turn a screw or two and then we'd have repeat customers :-D

 

makes sense to me too... MAN! what did you do to that thing, It RUNS AWESOME!......

 

thats why the pump was recalled.... duh it wasn't puttin out enough power, then extend hand for a tip
