Throttle Spring ?
Today was the first day I had the chance to drive my new 93 around.
Does your gas pedal (should I say diesel pedal?) have to take your full leg strength to depress? Is this normal ? It's like pushing a refrigerator out of the way, just to go faster.
In these pix you will see the throttle linkage. There is an "extra" spring, or what I would think was an extra spring on the linkage. Is this spring supposed to be there? Since I've never owned, or worked on, one of these trucks before, I'm still learning.
Here is the throttle linkage:

Here is this spring that doesn't look like it's supposed to be there. Does your truck have one there? Doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks...

Thanks for the info. I didn't think it belonged there, but before I removed it, I thought I'd ask.
What a world of difference. Feels like a real accelerator pedal, now.
Before I did anything, I realized (by actually looking) that there was a spring mount on the front of the timing cover directly in line with the throttle levers. When I removed the spring, the throttle lever wouldn't return to closed position on it's own. I can only assume that someone put that spring in there to keep the throttle shut. Can't imagine why they just didn't put it where it actually belonged.
The green arrow points to a bracket where it was attached. Red shows where it now functions like it should have.
As soon as my leg muscles heal & return to normal, I won't be limping around any longer from pushing that fridge around...
Thanks for the confirmations. Didn't want to do something incorrectly.

Well I didn't get the right one, but I found one that would work at the local Lowes. I think it was actually for patio furniture or something.
I think it was a 4" spring with a 7/16" OD, it's a little on the stiff side, but I kind of like it since I can rest my whole foot on the accelerator pedal and just roll my ankle when I want power, instead of just keeping my toe on it like I usually do.
Easy mod for you... from your pictures, you can move your throttle shaft to the inner hole (closer to the pump) to ensure you get full throttle from the pump ... see ... hmmm can't find a pic right now ... I'll keep looking
