THREAD SIZE of FUEL SOLENOID ???
LOL wannadiesel that covers alot of territory. BearKiller I have an engine on the engine stand and i'll try to remember tomorrow to pull the solenoid out and see what it is. Hope that's soon enough.
I looked hard, but didn't see any fittings listed as "big and metric".
YES, that would be wonderful.
I know that the big outlet on the lift-pump is 14mm x 1.5, but it seems to me that the fuel-solenoid may possibly be bigger.
My reason for needing to know the thread size is I intend to convert at least two, maybe three, of my trucks to cable-kill, yet I want to keep the perfectly good solenoids for whenever one should fail on the other trucks.
If my memory serves, a simple plug of the right size can be used, instead of "gutting" a perfectly good solenoid.
Of course, if I could come up with a few "dead" solenoids, I could just use them.
Thanks.
You can just take the plunger and spring out, screw the solenoid back in and just keep the guts in the glove box and if you want the solenoid to work again, just put the guts back in. Should work right?
I converted my shutdown solenoid into a solid plug by punching out the plastic body and tapping the remains for a 1/2"NPT pipe plug. It's visible near the lower-right corner of this pic:

I did almost the same thing, I tapped the smaller hole with 1/8"NPT pipe plug, then the little o-ring that actually seals it has something to hold it in place. The last thing I did was fill the cavity with some silicon.
What is that gizmo in front of the throttle ??; I assume it is a "turbo-timer" kill-switch, or maybe it tells an engine-brake where the throttle is at.
That looks like some of my welding, by the way, but I don't remember doing it.
BearKiller I got the solenoid out but i'll have to wait until in the morning when my buddy brings back my tap and die set, the thread pitch gauge is in with that stuff. Haven't used any of it in a year and one of my guys loaned it out a couple of days ago. That's about par when your looking for something and it got loaned out, at least a good friend has it so i'll get it back in good shape and clean. Sorry but i'll try my best to have it tomorrow.
