Thoughts on 12cm housing

I currently have the lagmaster 21cm (non-wastegated) housing on my 91.5. Just wondering if there are any concerns with installing a wastegated 12cm. Looking for some input. Thanks

Good for 5spd trucks not as good on automatics.

exactly. Maybe go a little bigger to a 14cm, but still wastegated.

The 12cm housing is an excellent piece on autos and manuals. The added benefit on the 5 speeds is that you have to spool the turbo in every gear, so the 12 helps speed things along. Although you only have to spool up once with an auto, the smalller housing will still produce more boost for a given amount of fuel, which will help you run cooler when towing.

16 cm2 on an auto also made somewhat of a difference.
Fill in your signature with your truck specs and mods, and you may get more specific advice.

I have the h1c with a 12cm wg housing on my 91.5 auto. Stock injectors and mostly stock tuned pump and it hits the wastegate at 25psi and stays there. I think for a stock truck (injectors and tuning) it is a decent upgrade, as long as you don't block the gate or have bigger than stock injectors. Just be sure to hook the wastegate up! I drilled and tapped the compressor cover on the h1c for the wastegate hookup.

It's not bad on an automatic, it's just not as dramatic an improvement as it is on a 5 speed truck. You only have to spool an auto once.

I love mine, and would never consider going back. It is a cheap mod, with huge gains on a 5-speed, and it still better than the 21 cm housing if you have an auto. It will give you more boost, and will keep your egt's a lot cooler! I love mine!

whats up bud,

you bought that off me.

anyways, it will be fine without much more fuel. If your plannin on gettin injectors, it will be on the small side, but then again, the whole turbo is for that matter.

One thing I forgot to tell you is you have to move your exhaust back 1.5"s because of the wastegated housing.

So what happens if you block the wastegate?

Dont these trucks run outta legs with the smaller housing (12 Cm) at higher speeds, say if it is used more on highway than booting around the city ?

IMO everything is better than the 21cm.

If you want an all around good housing, swap the 21cm for a factory 18.5cm off a 89-91.0 or a 93 truck . low egt's on the highway and relatively fast spool up on auto trucks.

Not really. It will hurt the MPG a little if you run over 70 a lot, but it won't hurt the power.

if used more on highway than city, a 16 might still be an option...
