Just wanted to say thank you all and for this site.
I ran out of fuel last night while heading to flying J. Because of this site and all of your posts, I was able to call my wife to bring me 5 gal of diesel and a 17mm wrench to crack the lines. With out your help I would not know how the get my truck started and be forced to get her towed, and then have it fixed
. I just wanted to say thank you to you and my wife.(she knew what and where to find my wrenches
)
Thank you again,
Michael
P.S. what kind of fuel filter should I get, and would you replace it, only has 4k miles on it

Go to Geno's garage for your filters-fleetgaurd dealer! Drain filter at every fuel fill up and change on every other oil change as I was told! Others chime in if I was wrong in my readings-thanks for these forums! Heres the link!

The manual says to drain some fuel out of the filter (not the whole filter) every time you fuel. I've never found any water, now I do it maybe once a month if that often. No, you won't lose prime from doing this.
I don't think you have to drain fuel from the filter at every fill-up, as long as you go to a station that has a filthy pump! If you need a glove to remove the handle, it's used frequently, so the fuel is probably pretty fresh.
Tip: if possible go to truck stops near a highway. It's used a lot and is cheaper besides, sometimes as much as 10 or 15 cents per gallon.

Drain fuel from filter after each fill? Yeah, I really wanna smell like that. I change my filter once in the spring, and once in the fall. I carry a spare at all times. Have never used it. I've never drained some fuel after a fill. Never had a problem either. Just my .02 .

well thank you to all, I know now that I will NEVER let myself run out of fuel again. What a PITA compared to a gasser. But at least I was able to get her running on my own, thanks to you guys.
I'll change the filter in the spring, and I pull the drain once a month for about 1 sec. just to make sure there is no water. You do not have to drain the whole filter and no need to prime after.
