I was interested in 1st genner opinions as to weather TDR is worth the price for us.

I have not spent the money to join. I do think that the 1st gen section is the friendliest part of the TDR - partly thanks to the great moderator.

I've been a TDR member for about 3 years now. It's well worth the price just for the nice reading material in the way of 4 thick periodicals/magazines they send each quarter. I don't think one site is better than the other, DTR/TDR, but you get different view points/ideas etc from each... in a good way though. I don't know if you noticed there are a few guys that belong to each site here.

I am a member too. I believe it is worth it if for nothing else the mags. I believe the DTR 1st gen forum is more active. Otherwise just ditto what Bill said.

I have "lurked" over at TDR for a long time. I am not too cheap to spend the money, but with so many free sites I see no need to pay. Especially IMO considering the over abundance of arrogance I have seen at TDR. For the most part I have not seen the same attitude at the other free sites, and if I have it is usually in a special section designated for trash talking. I agree the 1st gen section of TDR is the most civil and friendly, as well as the regional chapters section. I can't comment on the TDR magazine as I have never seen it. I like this site a lot and for the most part it is very civil and friendly in all of the sections.

Been a member of the TDR since about the middle of '02. Signed up on the site few months later. I would have to agree with you Gregg on that, there has been an increase of that crap lately. However, it does seem to be mostly newer members and some that under 25 yrs old and few select long time members.

Overall, it is pretty civil. The worst one I've been a small part of is TDS. A LOT more of and and going on. I've even stated FACTs, and the posts still got deleted by the mods. Wasn't harassing the person I responded to, either.

There a lot of members here that are member over there (TDR) as well.

Even though I don't own a 1st gen, I still read lots threads in the 1st gen forums. I'd still like to own one someday. Like to stay up on things.

I've been a member over at the TDR for quite some time. The first gen forum is where I spend most of my time. Don't need all those extra valves, those added computers, boxes and chips, and espically don't need one of those pesky P-pumps, right Bill! I agree that the entry fee is money well spent. I've spent more then that to get in and hook to a sled at some truck pulls. After you get past 75' thats all you get for your money.

There are some people over there lately that have differnent attitudes. I think it's from a lot of younger guys getting trucks, and many, many, new people with 3rd genners. Come on over and we'll take care of you in the first gen forum. I'm sure the Pastor will let you in.

As you can see I have not been here very long, but have been a member of some offroad webcites that are non pay, and the membership there is sometimes, well, down right mean. Not the same IMO on the TDR. So far I'm with Bill liking both cites, and I will renew at the TDR when its time.

In the old days it was run what you brung! NOW it's run what you can plug in.

Besides THIS is the best place for honest down to earth info, bar none.

Talking

'Wanna...thanks for the good review....in all fairness though, it's the overall group of 1st gen guys that make it a good Forum....as for my part, well...I just try to see everyone gets a fair shot, period.

Monty and I have worked on few things together over the last couple of years...bringing ideas from one forum to the other... basicall all for you guys... just to help.
There are some who don't want to divulge some secrets but that's ok too...they had to work hard and pay the price for it so no harm no foul there...
In the case of TDR it has grown so fast and so wide ranging it's virtually impossible to quell the inevitable quarrels, mostly in the other forums by the way...it's just a fact of life.

I've been online there almost exactly 5 years, (not counting about 2 years of lurking)...coming this Oct...and it has been a hoot....
The guys there, like here, are all up for some shenanigans and kidd'n around but in the end they all pull in the same direction....just like the guys in here...

Personally, I think that the TDR is a great companion site that is worth the few bucks use....besides, if you go for a 'one time' shot at it you'll know whether you want to stay or not...

All you need to do is keep one thing in mind.....times have changed BIG TIME...no longer are the old stereotypes still clung to...eg: 300 HP the limits...NAAAAaaaa.....400 HP the limit...NAAAAAaaaaaaa...how bout 500, NOPE !!
Right now I have three trucks in the high 300 RWHP one or two in the 400 RWHP and one in the 500+ RWHP and it's still going strong...
The reason..................... because you guys just keep the collective ideas/work/mods/R&D going....simple as that....
Is the TDR worth the $$ well, in my opinion, yes it is, but I wouldn't use it as a replacement for this site.

pb...

bmoeller I agree with you on the TDS stuff as I have seen it many times too. If this topic was about that site I would most certainly be mentioning that issue as well as some others that pertain to it. I didn't mean to sound as if I was "throwing TDR guys/gals under the bus", and I have edited my post to hopefully quell any suggestion that I was trying to do just that. I also agree with the theory of "new" guys being the instigators for the most part. Bushy I do think you have done a very good job over on TDR. The people from TDR that I have met were great such as bmoeller, Todt061458, rb1, Notagn, breakseverything, and a few others that I can't remember their names. Maybe I will take Bushy's suggestion and give membership a try.

Tdr

I have to say that I couldn't be more happy with this site. You guys have always been there for me, and even put up with an occasional D'oh stupid question from me.
Thanks Wanna, Pastor, and all of you guys!
I will consider the TDR thing. I was a member it's first year, but haven't kept up much since then, except for the occasional search hit from Google.

I was a subscriber in '99, but at that time the magazine was nothing more than a shill for Cummins. What I mean by this is they were constantly harping on the "you are your own warranty station" and "EPA warning" stuff and not giving good bombing tricks and tips. I got fed up and cancelled.
Is it still that way, or have they come around and become a voice for the enthusiast?

Definately worth it. Friendliest bunch of people in the 1st gen group. Wish I still had my 1st gen so I could hang out there more often.
