TC Shifter Rattle
Howdy,
I know this has been covered before but I searched and couldn't find it.
What's the fix for the Transfer Case Shifter Rattle?
I remembered the "roll of Duct Tape-hung-on-the-shifter-fix",and tried that...but to no avail...it still rattles...
But the Duct Tape sure is right handy hangin'there...
Thanks in advance,
Vinny

I tried all of em...the one that WORKS and kill's ALL of the Rattle is.. Take the linkage rod off between the Shifter and the T/Case.. Take a piece of garden hose and Cut to fit entire length of Rod.. Slice the hose with a razor and slip over Rod, then wrap it with a few layer's of tape..RATTLE will be GONE FOREVER.

I'll have to try that garden hose idea later tonight. For the longest time I have been wedging my cd case between the T-case shifter and the other shifter. The rattle is eliminated until it's time to change cd's

You'll love IT.. MAKE SURE that you Cut the length of Hose as LONG as possible, it look's like some of the Rattle could come from that area where it connect's to the shifter and T/case.

Isn't there a plastic washer and c-clip that you can replace that helps? I remember Bushy posting about this with some part numbers . . .
The part numbers didn't seem to make it into our TechFAQ here.
And I never got around to doing mine, either . . .

Yep, there is a hairpin shaped plastic "cap" that is about 1" long as I recall. It is hard to see if you're not looking for it.
It is on the "gate" that the shifter lever rides in. Look closely and you'll see it.
What happens is the shifter lever eventually rubs thru it and starts to rattle against the gate slot.
I'll try to dig up the part number if I can.
