TC replace on a 727 REALLY a good idea???

Is swapping the tc in my 727 a wise idea or will the stocker hold up fine???
My engine/trans has 400,000 kms on it but I'm not sure if the trans is origional or not.
Will this give me an appreciable mpg gain or should I just wait and upgrade to a 47rh later?
Anyone done the converter on their 727 and see a big difference or if you did it again would you do something differently?

I'd recommend a swap. Not sure if the MPG gain would pay for it, but I know of guys who claimed a 4mpg increase with an aftermarket convertor and some valv ebody adjustments.

How much torque is a 426 Hemi capable of? I was under the impression it was around 500-550 unless you did some real hopping up. Not to say the 727 wouldnt hold, but a 400hp gasser is MUCH different from a 400hp diesel.

The 727 is byfar imo the best auto dodge ever made. If I hadnt been itching for a stick Id have stuck a gear splitter behind my 727 and slapped a torque converter in it and called it good.

Sounds like a concensus to me fella's! I just spoke to Mark at Hughes and the price and advice are good so I think I found my vendor. Far away from Canada though.....
Mark says that I should check the contents of the pan before I jump to any freshining up conclusions. I sure do appreciate people out there who are honest!!

You need 3200 RPM spring.

The 3200 spring will give you a little more RPMs before it defuel's and it makes it alot more driveable. I couldn't be happier with that upgrade I felt the difference instantly and I also have the 727 auto in a 4x4. DO IT you won't regret it, and by the way it's pretty cheap and easy to do.

Only if you insist on driving 100 MPH all the time.
