takes a few seconds for the needle to show you are in park

Does anyone know or had this problem? I can put my truck in gear and the red needle that shows what gear you are in does not go back right away when putting it back into park but is in park.

there is a string that goes to a bar and that bar is connected to the shifter and its spring loaded its probably worn out

I agree. It sounds like the spring in the indicator assembly is binding. You could try spraying some WD40 or equivalent very lightly to see if it frees things up. There are rivets holding the assembly together. If you feel up to it, drill out those rivets and have a look inside to see what's really happened. I replaced my assembly about 2 years ago. It was still available from the dealer for around $20 or so.

Yep, the cable will cut a groove in the plastic and it will stick esp. if you pull it down to 1st gear.
