It's still too thick. I have had good success with Redline MTL, and Royal Purple Synchromax should also work well if you want an oil specifically formulated for transmission use in a weight comparable to 5W-30 motor oil.

Stay a way from the gear oils! i have tryed 15/40,5/30 synthetic and the next time i'm going to try a fluid that was dezined for our tranny.......im going to try Royal Purple
syn.
15/40 to syn 5/30 help a lot with gear clash but i'm hoping that the syncromac will help eliminate the clash

Dodge ('93 owner's manual) does say that ATF is acceptable if the trans is difficult to shift in cold weather. They don't say that it is OK/not OK in warm weather.

ATF = 10W. I've run it and didn't care for the feel of the shifts. Was too light and catchy for me, so I switched back to 5w30 synthetic.

I've found that to prolong transmission life, it's more important to change the oil every 12000 miles than to use synthetic oil. Even if the oil looks clean when you stick your finger in the fill hole, the oil always has A LOT of metal in it when you drain it. Shine a light on it while it's sitting in the drain pan, and you will be shocked.

Isn't there a magnet in the bottom of the Get Rag to trap steel particles. The brass from the synchros wouldn't cause that much problem. IMHO.
