suspension lift?

Anyone know of a good 6inch suspension lift for a 93 ctd w2504wd5spdclubcab? Would the stock driveshaft be long enough, I'm thinking it should be fine, but want to be sure. does the driveshaft have an adjustable yoke? with 35"s on it I know it would be a little more strain, but how much of a difference would it make? any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance, Alex

Alex,

The Skyjacker softride systems seem to get a lot of positive comments...

I have a 4in system on my truck and it seems to be well engineered. I'm running 35's with it and I've encountered no issues.

My Buddy has pretty much the same set-up on his truck...Skyjacker 4in and 'take-off' surplus Hummer tires, and his works just as well.

But I gotta' tell ya'...if they call this a "softride" system, I'd hate to ride in something that has a 'hardride' system on it...

Hey guh2stroke - I put a 2 inch lift on mine, and found that the front drive shaft had a severe bind at full droop. I had to do some pretty extensive clearance grinding on the yoke at the axle end, and also a little on the CV joint. If you're going to a six inch you may need a custom shaft on the front. My rear was OK, two inches didn't make much difference in the operating length on the rear. I also had the rear springs built with enough extra arch (total of five inches in my case) to eleminate the rear blocks. Helped alot with spring wrap.

Howdy,

On the 4 inch I have, the front driveshaft needed clearencing...

Rule of thumb I remember was 3/8's of an inch of extra driveshaft length for every 1 inch of lift.

There is room on most driveshafts for a 2 inch lift no problem...for 4 inch you'd better check, and as Desertrat said, a 6 inch lift needs a little extra driveshaft.

I'm thinkin' it's best to check and make sure on each truck individually just to make sure...with the age of these trucks, you can't be sure the shaft (or shafts) weren't changed out at some time with re-mans.
