I decided to install my new BD exhaust manifold last Monday. Naturally the old bolts fought me all the way to completion. It got late and I was in too much rush and left something under the hood. Whatever it was fell into the fan and trashed it, the shroud and the radiator. Went to MOPAR and found out the fan is discontinued. No luck finding one locally. I do not want electric fans. What could possibly fit in the original fans place with or without the shroud?
The only missing tool from the job is a 1/2 inch drive impact universal and a socket. Most likely it fell onto the cross member/radiator support and due to the "soft ride" these trucks have it must have bounced up into the fan. Bent three fan blades at the tips and holed three tubes in the core. It sounded like it wanted to get in the cab with me.
EGT's hit 1200 WOT and I backed off when the speedo hit 70mph. Before it would hit 1400 at the same speed. Cruise temps are running 50 to 100 degrees cooler compared to the old stock manifold. Boost was 37 pounds using no drugs. Water/meth system isn't working right now and it is too cold to mess with it.
