Stuck rear wheel

I drove my truck on a dark and rainy day and parked it, with the E brake on. Sat for a month and now the drivers side rear wheel is locked up. The passenger moves fine and the E brake pedal popped right back up. I've grabbed the cable that goes into that wheel and flexed and yanked on it. I backed up a little, maybe 5 feet and I'm cutting a furrow in the gravel. Should I keep backing up? Its done this mildly before and it came undone with a big clunk almost immediately, this time it seems a little worse. Thoughts?
Thanks guys, best site ever.

Soak the cable with PB Blaster, spray it good and let it set overnight. Then shake the cable every way you can, if it doesn't free up then try smacking the drum a few times with a big hammer, sometimes the shoes will rust to the drums and stick. the vibration will free it most times.

How far are you from something other than gravel? It may not be giving enough resistance.

You can pull the wheel off and hit the drum with a large hammer and 2x4 between it and the drum. That should loosen it up.

I usually just hit the backing with a hammer and they let go. Just make sure the truck is in gear or park so you don't run yourself over

I'm right off an alley so I could pull onto the pavement, but I had my wife pull me up and down the alley twice because the starter was fried and I just skidded. I put a new starter on, so thats not a problem now. I'll beat on it tomorrow and see what happens.
