stock 04.5'+ turbo bolt up? Will it support 350-375whp?
I may have found a good price on one but before I decide I want to make sure it will work. It would be cheaper than buying HTT Stage III and 16cm.
The 04.5+ turbos are the HE351W. They're a little different than the HY-35. They do have a small 9cm exhaust housing but also have a 62mm compressor.
For a stock turbo they are pretty tough, quick spooling turbo and they cool 350hp+ on 3rd gens all the time. Some run them at 40 psi all day with no problems on the 3rd gens! But I wouldn't "upgrade" to one on purpose unless it was free or ultra cheap and I had time to kill.

A third gen head flows flows about what.........................25% more air too. That, and the higher injection pressure is why they run cooler and no smoke at 350-375 hp.
I'm sure it won't break.
Try it and report back. Why not?

No larger exhaust housings are available for the 3rd gen turbos. If there were lots of folks would spring for one.
The HX35 exhaust wheel is 60mm and the 3rd gen turbo is 55mm. I got that info from 1stGen545.
1stGen545 had some great pictures and measurements he posted once. His example was of an HE341 which was the turbo off of the 03-04 trucks. It had a smaller compressor.

what are the specs for my 92' turbo? Doesnt it have a 56 or 58mm exducer? Something like 62/58/22? Sounds like our turbo would be an upgrade for them. lol
An HX-35, HY-35, and HE341 use 54mm compressor wheels, the HE351 uses a 60mm wheel. Check this thread I have a 3rd gen on my truck already. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ghlight=turbos I run 30 psi and it's very hard to reach 1200F pre-turbo. The only major change is the downpipe uses a 4 3/8" flange off the back of the turbo. (machined mine to 4.425") Stock intake hose to turbo and two 90's for the IC piping. The turbo I used was a HE341, keep in mind these turbos came off trucks with 305-325 hp so there designed to support that power level and maintain proper egt's.
