Steering gear box input seals
Steering gear box input seals
I'm trying to replace the input shaft seals but can't get it apart. I removed the locknut but can't get the adjuster plug to budge. No, I don't have the special spanner to fit the two holes. Anyone have the part number for the spanner? Looks like the rebuilder (thru Napa) may have used some kind of cement on the adjuster threads. This is the second box in 40K miles, less than a year and 10k on this box! Napa may replace it but I don't want to pull it. The last time resulted in new hoses and steering shaft since everything was froze up.
Thanks
Thanks
Broke down and got another box this morning after church. The input shaft has some side-to-side play. Got to get it together for the work week. Someday, maybe, I'll get to do something to the truck other than repairs!
If you have power-steering problems, THIS is the guy to call :

If good advice is what you need, he won't try to sell you something you don't need; and, if a gear-box, or whatever, is necessary, there are none better, PERIOD.
