steering column bushing

steering column bushing

The bottom of my steering column is very loose problally 1/4 or more of play in it if you move it by hand every bump in the the street makes it rattle loudly cant stand it no more will the second gen bushing work on ours

so there is no fix no one has had this problem! this would be a first this fourm has been great for me finding how to keep this old beast going

Did you try doing a search I have never head of anyone else having the same problem you are having but someone must have had this problem before.

Let me know what you find out. My 92 W250 has the same issue....loose as a goose where the shaft goes into the gearbox

them shaft that hooks up to gearbox and steering wheel.they are junk.they make good ones at Geno garage.com

They have a kit to fix that joint, its real simple to fix, read the next article under this thread, I had to do mine after me and my wife were pulling a trailer and things got pretty hairy with the trailer swaying on the freeway, one minute i was driving behind the wheel and the next second i was sitting in the middle, then we were booth sitting behind the wheel, this went on for seems like 5 minutes till i got it stopped. lol
