Steel or aluminum
There was a company on ebay that was listing the auxilliary tanks with all the wiring and hardware to make it work with the oem guage, but I can't find it now. I think they where in Texas, I was going to get a 65 gal tank until momma told me what we owe in fed and state taxes
, I think tank, hardware and wiring was like $900.00, but on thier website they listed for over $1300.00. I'll keep looking and see if I can find it, because after writing those checks, I'm going to take a LONG ride and SCREAM

Yeah these things ain't cheap. I have a fifth wheel camper I haul and a saddle tool box that has to come along. The tank has to fit in front of the fifth wheel hitch and behind the tool box. Pretty limited space. I am thinkin about an L shaped aluminum tank. I am goin to call a guy tomorrow and see how much he wants to fabricate one to my specs. I figure I can get one the size I want and will hold about 105 to 110 gal of diesel. That would be just the tank I want. That would give me about 140 gallons topped off. That will take me a very long way even with the camper.

Ok now comes he head scratcher. Do you guy's know of anyone that makes tanks to your order? Custom tanks. Hey Dave what about a used truck tank? I am wondering if I can get one that will fit my limited space.

I would never install any fuel tank, but especially not a diesel tank, that didn't have a drain in it that would collect water and other contaminants. Also, I was always told to stay away from treatments that absorb water into the fuel, as the absorbed water can cause wear in the injection pump.
As long as it is a transfer tank and not connected to the truck permanently, there shouldn't be any restrictions on capacity other than GVW
Or do you need a hazmat placard and CDL
?
