I find the bigger the exhaust has more of a hollow sound to it. Personally I love the sound of my 3inch exh straight pipes although it is too restrictive. I haven't heard a 4inch striaght pipe or 5 but we have a 2nd gen p-pump with 3inch exh that goes into a big piece of square tubing and then to 6in stacks and I fidn the sound to be too hollow sounding and not as loud as my truck with the straight 3inch.

Just something for you to think about

I ran 4" straight pipe for about 8 months, with 3" down pipe. it was really raspy sounding. Especially the echoing off walls and buildings. I put a donaldson 4" in-n out straight thru 40" muffler in there and now all I can hear is the turbo sounding like a 747 on takeoff everytime I stomp it, and yes it is only a baby h1c

If you like loud, then Run 4" all the way from the turbo to 5" stack's. It will definately turn some heads when you put the go pedal down.

Drill a hole in the hood and turn the down pipe up. Be sure to use a rain cap.
