Wanna-I couldnt have said it better myself. Another thing Ive noticed is that straight cuts look nice, but always seem to build up soot around the outside of the rim of them. Not sure why, but you dont notice it on miter cuts.

If someone was to hold me hostage and threaten me within an inch of my life and my only option for survival was to run stacks (crazy scenario) I would run TWO 6" turnouts slightly above the cab.........like not even a measurable amount just enough to get a hint there could be a stack back there. And I only laid that out there because I know ya and probably will run inta ya in the future and if you decided to run stacks Id feel better that I contributed somewhat.

Lol...nice scenario...Well atleast I have some support from ya now. Im afraid to go too big seeing as how im only 2wd srw so 5" is about all Im gonna do, though I wont rule out 6s.

If I did stacks, they'd be 5" turnouts. I personally don't like the look of a single stack.

Well if you do go with stacks (6" of course ) theres a place here in Waco that sells em cheap, and theres also a big truck junk yard that always has one or two junkers laying around. If you want to see what 6" would look like hollar at 1stgen545, we just got through dumping off Lees setup at his house. He wouldnt mind you sticking em in the back of your truck to take a peek at whats to come. It was only an hour from Stephenville to his crib the other night (hes a little easier on the pedal than I am) maybe thatll help.

OH yeah and while your there we could also take your "D"250 and make it a dubya!!!

HAHA! Sounds good, but for the D-W conversion...maybe a little later, though theres not much more I want. But Ill be out of school in a week and then will be doing the turbo and tranny swap. Once I get that done, I may make the trip down.

stacks are for big rigs, pickup trucks. i kinda think the whole idea is silly. why does a pickup truck need two 6" stacks when my 379 w/3406 only needs two 5" stacks? stacks were kinda cool at one point, but now everyone seems to have them; in town there are several gasser 1/2 tons with them, an f350 w/460 with stacks, a toyota 4cyl w/them and too many powerjokes with stacks that make way too much whiseling noise. then theres always the idiots that run them outside the bed, put raincaps on them, use auto exhaust 2.5" tubing for them, or even use square steel tubing, as i have seen .

so, i am not one for stacks on a pickup truck. on a big truck though, the bigger the better, but no bigger than 8". straight up, no raincaps, no miters, no turnouts, and no chrome, only black. call me a weirdo, i dont care

First gen reg cab= 5-6" turnouts
First gen ext cab- 6" mitres

2nd gen either cab=6" turnouts

3rd gen = 6" mitres

And ALL of them, right at level, or 1-2" above the top of the cab, no skyscraper stacks....

Had a set of 3 1/2" on my 81 440 D250 - without mufflers. After about 6 mos, I broke down
and installed a set Cherry Bombs. Quieted down the cab considerably, but still got funny
looks from the fuzz in Texarkana.
My Cummins is going to a set of dual 5" faired into the space between the cab and bed. Not
modified enough to make me pull my topper, and not enough to intrude into the rear cab.
Hope it sounds as good as the 440. Hope I get as many miles on my 93 as my 81 - 550K and
running strong when I sold it to buyy the 93.

I like the look of stacks and I think it is entirely up to individual taste. However I selected the bottom cue. I can only wonder how much more work I would have to do to keep my white boat white with stacks
