Stack-ectomy...

Well, I'm gonna need a new avatar now...I tore the stack off today and built a 4'' tailpipe with a 5'' tip. My truck is horribly quiet, which is good and bad. I've been towing a lot lately and everything is hilly around here, so it's ear-bleed city. Plus, the local law has been watching me, and it's hard to deny who left that huge cloud when the 'smoking gun' is pointing through your bed So I'll have pics of my shiny 5'' tip and hopefully a new avatar in the next couple days Did I mention my truck is VERY quiet?

Good on 'ya, Dave I miss it already, but this thing is really turning into the workhorse it was built to be since I'm hauling stuff all the time for building my house. I've got my eye on a 92 d250 auto for a play truck though....

Well, it's all yours except I cut it all to heck and back to make an 18'' tip for my new tailpipe Now the turnout is about 4'' long

What a sad day, a 1st gen that got to experience a stack then had that joy ripped away from it.

Yeah, I have a stack with a 4" straight through muffler down underneath. I couldn't have a conversation or hear my phone ring when it was straight pipe. Nobody wanted to ride with me. I kind of miss the sound a little though.

is your truck straight piped? if so, I guarantee you that to those OUTSIDE your truck, it's louder w/ the tailpipe than it was with the stack!

Louder is better, and faster depending on who ya talk to. Unless you're getting followed by you know who and queit is king. I still like loud untill I hook to a trailer then it's time to roll up the windows. Jethrro

I saw a remote controlled "cutout" for 4" exhaust in a catalog the other day but can't remember where . In the Commonwealth of Virginia they are not allowed so I just didn't pay too much attention. But for you guys that live in a free state they would be awesome. Just hit a switch and you can go from being the loud terror of the highways to the mouse of the house.
