Speedometer problems

My odometer quit working but speedometer still works. Can I replace the odometer or could something else make it not work?
Also, I'm not sure of the proper name, but the little gear reducer between speedo cable and transfer case went out again. I just replaced it about 2 years ago. I just took it off and hooked speedometer cable back up. (Its about 15 mph slow now). Could any of this be related to tps problems? I replaced tps about 1 1/2 years ago. It blows my mind how something last for nearly 15 years and then all of a sudden its a regular problem.

If the speedo still works and the odometer isnt, odds are that one of the little plastic drive gears in the odometer is broken. There is a thread in the "stickey" about repairing it, gives the parts # and explains how to fix it.

My odo quit when I reset the trip a week or two ago. Speedo still works. I ordered the little gears but haven't torn into it yet. Didn't know you could fit so much money into such little plastic pieces

Check the sticky he referred to for suppliers.

I plan on tearing into it between now and New Years while I have the time off. Will chase those little electrical gremlins while I have the dash all apart too

That's what I doing right now, I'm just waiting on the little tiny plastic gear to get here so I can reinstall. While I'm waiting, I figured I'd give the old gauges a new look by refreshing them. Went by the gauge refresh in the sticky. Now the needles are bright red. And at the same time, I had to fix my high beam indicator light too. So I fixed three problems in one.

Where did you order yours from? My big gear doesn't look like the one in the pictures but I haven't torn everything apart to find out yet. Maybe tomorrow.

I ordered mine from www.speedometergears.com. All I orderd was the little 20 tooth gear. My big gear was still in good condition. $28 for gear and I think shipping. Just waiting for it to arrive now.
