There's no paint that will hold up on the manifold and housing. If you want to keep them looking nice, go to NAPA and get a spray can of Dry Graphite Film lube. It goes on black/dark gray and holds up pretty well. If it starts looking faded just spray some more on it.

Are you cutting a hole in the hood for the downpipe or running it hoodless?

you don't need a puller to get the injectors out, just loosen up the injector nut all the way and pry up really easy on the fuel line, it should pop out. Just make sure to not pry up to hard don't want to bend or pop a hole in your fuel lines.

yeah i wouldn't have done it that way but i had my injectors out about a year ago so i figured they wouldn't be that bad and they really weren't that hard to get out this time. Well maybe i should say get an injector puller to ftd since he's been having all this trouble. not trying to make fun but i don't want something else to happen to his lines.

i just put PODS in and to get the old ones out i found a nut that would screw on the top were the fuel tines go. then i used a slide hammer or a pry bar to get them out. they just poped right put.

A good pair of vice grips works wonders on removing injectors. They give you something to hold on to while trying to pry the injectors out. If the vice grips dont get the job done, a nice pry bar also helps for added leverage.

What IHpower said. Get a nut that threads on the injector, then weld that nut onto a nut that will fit your slide hammer, or just make one out of a big socket and a bolt.

Jleonard has a pic and instructions on how to make a injector puller in his readers rigs on TDR, not sure if the same pic is posted over here. You get yourself about 12" of 3/8" I believe all thread, some washers and a nut that matches the threads of the injector top, and use it as a slide hammer. Less than $5 in parts from hardware store. Just have to have access to a welder. http://www.turbodieselregister.com/u...=9051&width=0. Here it is, but he doesn't show the thread size.. we need the thread size, anyone?

Edit, from a post by J: The job was made easy with the simple injector puller I made last week at work. I simply welded a 12mm x 1.5 nut (injector top thread) to a 3/8-16 nut. Add a 12 inch piece of 3/8 threaded rod (I have a bunch at home), another 3/8 nut

I found a nut that fit the injector ( don't know the size) and welded a piece of 3/8 x 8" round stock to the nut. Then i drilled a piece of 1/4 plate about 4" square and slipped it over the rod,
than i welded another plate to the top of the rod. Home made slide hammer and it misses the hood on the last injector. had all my injectors changed to pod's in about 40 minutes. good luck
