A little trick I've learned from my old man is put a loose turn of electric tape around your universal (swivel) so it won't flop around so much and bind like your described.

Good luck with the install! I'm sure you'll get her!

Ha...well, that's too warm for Christmas, IMO.

Starter is on. Went well, part was waiting for me at the store.

The hardest part was that dang tube! Ah well...she's on and running and so is the show. Woot!

If you do decide to rebuild your starter, check out these supersize starter contacts. They're what I used when I rebuilt mine.

I just traded it in. Couldn't justify spending even more.

Hopefully this one lasts another 20 years!

Well as an aside, and for future searchers, be careful getting your socket on that back bolt.

I ended up breaking the dipstick tube as it enters the block. GRRRR!
