smoke screw

smoke screw

When I turn my smoke screw in do I need that nut on there.It looks like if I turn it all the way in the nut will come off.Thanks ahead of time.

Steve, if you're wanting to simply max it out, adjust it so it is flushed with the nut when you tighten it.

It doesn't really do much to turn the smoke screw down really far. All it does is "preload" the diaphram until boost comes up. The end effect of turning the smoke screw farther in is slightly more responsive throttle off-idle--it does nothing whatsoever for full-throttle power.

I think I only turned mine in one or two turns. I still had quite a way to go before it became flush with the locknut.

I turned mine down flush with the nut. I didn't notice any difference between a couple of turns and flush though.

mine smoked like a edit with screw bottomed out and pin slightly ground
