smoke & boost

ok fellas i have question i have my fuel pin turned, +2 full fuel, +1 or so on the smoke, and the afc maxed <i think if the afc is the gear that fuel fuel pin goes in> and i only smoke when i floor it, it blows a good amount but it doesent haze at all, even under load, and it doesent blow constant, only a big 'ole poof when i nail it? does anyone know why, can i elinimate the cloud down to a constant haze? i'd like a little bit under low and high boost conditions <no boost guage by the way> but not a huge cloud when i floor it! thanks

It blows out a big cloud until the turbo gets spooled up then it clears up. try backing out the smoke screw a few turns. that helped out on mine.

You could do what I did Take the AFC spring out!! Lots of smoke and a small amount of haze in 5th. 4th is really hazy but I almost have it floored! From what I can tell, the pin spring is there to provide resistance. Taking away all resistance results in minimum airflow=Lots of smoke!

Pulling the AFC spring may gain smoke, but I've found that it also makes the turbo spool up a little slower.

Also 93beater, you should have some gauges in before you fool around with the IP .

I just filled up this afternoon. With the spring gone and towing my buddy outta the field in 1st, I got 16.2 mpg. That is pretty good I think. I took the spring out before the last fill-up.

Let me get this straight, you get a big poof of smoke off the line, then it clears up? That is what you want, or are you wanting some haze all the time? I can fix you up with that, too.

Try backing out your AFC starwheel til it is level with the top of the well. Also, make sure your "smoke screw" is backed out, too. I have both mine backed out, and still get smoke til the turbo spools. If I hit it at about 1800 or above, i dont get much smoke.

Why do you want the haze if you dont mind me asking. It is just unburnt fuel.
