Safe power for Getrag

How much can I do to my truck for power without exceeding the power limit for the getrag. Also how much can the nv4500 take.

Thanks

i posted a forum similar to this a few months ago, and several of the responses indicated that the getrag is not given as much credit as it should be, i personally wouldnt swap to an nv4500, if my tranny went out i would go with a new getrag or the nv5600, i just dont like the way the nv4500 shifts.

The Getrag doesn't seem to fail due to excess power, it seems to break because of poor lubrication or abuse. Keep it overfilled and don't try to shift faster than the trans wants, don't drop the clutch, and don't lug it. It should take all the power your truck can make.

Thanks for the info, I don't want to do that much, just make it keep up with new trucks, so hopefully it will be happy overfilled for a while.

340-350hp on the getrag with 220k on it. It groans a little but has never failed me.
