Sputtering erratically need advice big time [long story inside]

I did the governor spring in the truck a little bit back and i got it tuned to where i like it.

I noticed the shutdown lever didn't work but the solenoid did for the most part. Kinda strange.

Things were going great for a while there then one day i was pulling donuts in the back yard and it just died as i drove away. I bled the injector lines and it started right up. Figured i sucked in some air from the fuel sloshing around in the tank since it was below half full.

My fuel system is this:
- Newer piston lift pump [the low pressure one]
- Brand new aluminum fuel cell
- All new stainless braided fuel lines
- Steel brake line for return line
- 3200 spring with unknown mileage injector pump

Yesterday I was driving down the road and i noticed it was running erratically at part throttle. I give it full throttle and instead of the normal black smoke it was lighter. Eventually it just kept losing power until it died. I pulled over and bled the line at the filter. Started up ok and made it home. Still ran a little funky though. I changed the filter and saw some rust colored water at the bottom which was strange. I took it for a test drive and it stalled again. Bled the injectors and it started right up.

Now today I take it out and it's goin fine for about 10 minutes then i notice a little bit of fluctuation of rpms at part throttle. If i punch it and let off it gets worse. On my way home i stalled twice because it wouldn't even idle anymore. I filled it up with fuel after barely making it to the pump.

I drove it home and it seemed okay but still not all the way there. All the fuel line connections seem tight. I have fuel additive in the tank too.

I'm suspecting my injector pump may be on its way out. I can see fuel leaking from the throttle shaft. Anyone have any other ideas?

Oil looks fine and it doesn't overheat. I'm stumped.

Put a piece of clear hose before the lift pump to look for air. If that's good, check fuel pressure.

Is it possible that there's a liner/filler in the fuel cell that's incompatible with diesel, and trash from that is plugging the screen in the lift pump? I know diesel will tear up some materials that are OK with gas.

I did put a chunk of the fuel cell safety foam in but that was after the first stalling. I'll check everything out tomorrow.

You may have more than 1 problem , but it sounds for sure that you had a bad batch of fuel at least .
Hopfully none got to the main pump or injectors .

Well if i had bad fuel it's probably already in there. I refueled today and put some more of that additive edit in there so maybe it could work through.

Well yesterday I scored a rebuilt pump with 9k on it [supposedly] for $350 so I bought it just in case. My suspension is all taken apart so I cant take it out for a test run just yet but if it still is acting up I think it's the injector pump.

I loosened up one of the banjo bolts at the filter housing while it was idling yesterday and fuel was squirting pretty vigorously. I figure that means the lift pump must be pretty decent even though I know an official reading would be better. If it was at 0psi the fuel wouldn't squirt out I would guess it would suck in air into the injector pump when opened.

Meh who knows. Next challenge is taking off the stupid timing cover and killing the KDP while I'm in there.
