Run speedo off abs sensor, possible?

Recently replaced the 518 in the '93 D350 dually with a Getrag. Everything went fine with the exception of the vss. We didn't get the reverser to run the Speedo/Odo/Daytime running lights. I have since found out that the reverser is discontinued and have yet to find anywhere to get it. Is it possible to get it somewhere other than the graveyard? Or, on the off-hand, I've heard it's possible to run the speedo off the ABS sensor in the diff, although I've yet to confirm the possibility. Could this work?

Travis.

That is an aftermarket solution to doing it.

I emailed them, and asked them about this, they said I didn't give them enough information, but it didn't sound like they could help me.

Here is what I wondered: I have a 92 ram 250 with a518 2wd, what would it take to run the speedo off a tone ring in the rear end?

Now, it sounds like this is feesable, I don't have a tone ring in the rear end currently, but figured could drill hole and install sensor, and also install a tone ring. what tone ring do i want? How do you calibrate one of these things?

Unless you've swapped gear sets or axles, the factory rear end has a tone ring on it for the RWAL sensor in the top of the center section which sends a signal to the ABS module. I've been told that you can use the signal from the RWAL sensor to drive the speedometer but since I didn't want to tap into factory wiring and wasn't positive that the speedometer signal interface from Dakota Digital would work in that case, I went this route using the interface I just mentioned plus a sensor:

Stewart-Warner made mine, stock number 4025 described as "90 degree ratio adapter... input 1 output .666". Here's a LINK to their site.

I sent them an email also, they said that they'd tried to make it work but haven't been able to.

There have been others who've made it work with success but none have chimed in yet. Here's hoping one of them will.

Save yourself some time in research and try out my method. All parts purchased from Dakota Digital and working flawlessly!

Are you talking for the clutch hydraulics? Yes, stock 1st gen master cylinder and I would assume the slave from a 2001. I'll have to find paperwork on the parts purchased for the swap and see if a slave cylinder was on the invoice.
