This will also be my first CTD that i have purchased. The guy used to ranch with it. Should i stray away from this vehicle? What type of mileage should i expect, it's an automatic.

I can't run a carfax for you, but I would suggest a few things to look at.

First off, if he's a rancher, them likely he's been towing a trailer full of cows, horses whatever. Pay attention to how the tranny shifts. Cummins dodges do a kind of stutter shift normally, so don't worry about that. Just make sure the shifts are crisp and strong. Ask about maintenance records, look around for leaks at the pans, t-case and difs. Insist on a test drive, and ensure you get her up to highway speed. Test the truck out in 4x4 as well.

I even go so far as to check all of the levels when I'm looking to buy a vehicle. Sure I'm a pain in the a**, but I have a pretty good record of not getting ripped off or stuck with a lemon. If he won't let you check, or there's noises and leaks etc. then walk away. I know you probably really want the truck, but there will always be another. If you get a good one, then your enjoyment of the vehicle will be much higher.

I look forward to hearing of your purchase.

i bought my pickup from a rancher and as of right now i have 2 of the welds on the bed break, i'm thinking i'm going to have to pull the bed but i want to paint it while it's off. The other thing i just got my transmission rebuilt by a nationwide tranny rebuilder in Oregon and then i moved up here to Anchorage and it went out a month and a half later and now i got the pickup back last friday and there's still an issue with the new tranny. If i could do it over again i would go with a DTT tranny or if i bought a new pickup i wouldn't buy an auto all together.

I am just a little shy of buying this truck. I am graduating from college in May, and i don't know if i should wait and get a new truck, or go ahead and get this one and test out my liking of the CTD.

Is this truck at a dealer or privite party? In my area this truck books for $11,495.00 on Kelley blue book and ranges from $8,525.00 to $10,875.00 on the NADA site.

Look it over very very close.
Don't impulse buy.
Take a friend or family member whose opinion you trust.
Don't get suckered into a high interest rate loan.

Just for info, I purchased a 92 3/4 ton 2X4 CTD Reg Cab long box. Asking price was $8,100.00 plus tax & license. Looked at it several times over a couple weeks. Ended up getting it for $5,000.00 with my $500.00 trade in. 1st gens in my area are running from 3 to 5K over book.

Located at a car dealership in Amarillo, Tx. I am in college, so I don't have any family members to look at it with me. So i guess the $9995 isn't such a good deal? Should i be weary of the high mileage (130k)? I have never had a vehicle with that much mileage, so i am worried about issues that come with high mileage vehicles.

thanks,

Kelly
