I do have a new NOS set of 9mm injectors for it, all original Bosch units. If nothing else I guess I can toss them in and see what happens.

Any other ideas?

Hey TC, did you try cracking the injectors after startup? If you did, was there any foam or air bubbles? My truck is in the bodyshop getting the roof and hood repainted so I haven't been able to try anything out.

Off idle and to around 1300rpm it will push a blue-ish smoke...like burning oil. Then above 1500rpm it's all clear...and this is all at operating temperatures. If I spool it up, and bring the RPM up with it I get a slight black-ish/grey haze...but that to me is more in line with what I should see.

Another thing...when I go for a drive, and then come to a rest and idle it down the smoke gets worse and worse the longer it idles. Again all at operating temperature.

And on a side not...I do plug it in befor I go out to get going. About 2 hours before I'm set to go. Smokes about the same in the morning with the truck stone cold, or plugged in.
I have the same issue as you do. Dad said his old Detroit would smoke a lot after idling a long time since it was new.... "Wet Stack". It can come from big injectors, or a bad injector. I have 45lpm DDP's which are not big at all. But it does the same thing. After it's warm, if I run into the store and let it idle, it will haze on take off. I've re done my entire fuel system from the fuel tank sender up to the filter with no results. Electric fuel pump on the rail right by the tank... nothing. I've always ruled out the injectors since they were new, but I've heard of bad ones out of the box....

Please let me know if you figure it out!

No I haven't had a chance to crack the injectors while running. Been working throughto next monday night. Hopefully tuesday I can do the injector test. I'm hoping to see either the smoke go away...or the air bubbles or foaming.

This problem has been slowly getting worse and worse. Now it's almost embarassing to drive it. And with our "AirCare" I fear someone calling me in and getting a manditiory inspection.

Will definetly update my findings.

Just finished cracking the injectors one at a time while running. Truck was at operating temperature and it was puffing the white/grey smoke while idling. I started at the front of the motor and worked my way back. There was no change in the smoke coming out of the tailpipe. The tone of the motor definetly changed as I dropped each injector.

So do you think my injectors are OK then? I did see some bubbles around the nut when I first loosened them...but then they went away. I think it was the fuel pushing up past the now open nut and clearing the air as it went.

Guess it's pressurize the fuel tank time and start looking for leaks?

I think you have some leaking injectors. As it get's hotter it burns off the fuel a bit better. It may be timing off a tad too

Typical 1st Gen

Hey Brian!

Just lost 2 injectors at once on my bus. There's another grand shot in the butt

Hey Steve...At least mine are easy to change....

Yeah I think I'm going to toss in my new injectors and see what happens....can't hurt anything by doing that.
