I recently replaced the stock (400K+) injectors with a new set. I bought a set of bosch 330 horse marine injectors, put the tips, springs and spacers in my first gen injector bodies, then had a local injection shop set them to 260 Bar. After the 2nd or 3rd mandatory pedal to the floor test runs the idle got very rough, the whole truck kinda shakes, it gets worse when the engine is hot and seems to smooth out around 1200 RPM whether under light throttle or heavy throttle.

The truck runs like a scalded dog, makes 37 PSI of boost, lots of low boost smoke and gets the best mileage I have seen in the year plus I have owned it. I have bled the injector lines several times, there are no new smoke symptoms and I know it is not simply running on 5 cylinders. Any ideas, cures?

Sorry, im not going to be much help here, but I thought they were supposed to be set at 250 bar not 260. That might be your problem right there, the pop pressure may be too high for the VE.

Just my guess here, I have always heard 250 bar.

 

Factory specs are 245 bar; some bigger 1st gen injectors are set at 250 bar. I think the POD's are 260 bar, which is one of the reasons they like lots of timing.

If the injectors are set at 260 bar, you may benefit by advancing the timing a bit. It will probably drop boost some and clear up a little smoke.
