Removing fuel filter nipple

What size nut do I need to run up onto the fuel filter nipple to remove it? I've tried various other methods and I don't want to trash the nipple because I'm not deleting the fuel heater, just replacing the o-ring. Also, has anyone else had trouble with the "search"? I haven't been able to get it to load for the past week. It may be my computer, just wanted to see if anyone else was having trouble. Thanks.

IIRC, There is a slot in the threaded nipple that the fuel filter screws onto, just use a very big screw driver to thread the nipple out...Mark

Several folks have used a blank chrysler key with the big head on it. Attach a vise grip to it, and youre good to go....

I used a paddle or spade bit for drilling in wood. Fits nicely in the slot and has a 1/4" hex on the end to get a socket on!

That might work. I tried several things in that slot but it's on there pretty good and I started chewing the slot up. I read on here one time where someone threaded two metric nuts on it to lock them together and just threaded it off, but I couldn't find the thread. I'll try the spade bit. Thanks!

Once in a while, the filter-stud is a hollow HEX, requiring a large metric Allen-wrench to remove it.

I have had a few just come screwing out with the filter.

what you need is called a drag link it is a screw driver on a half inch drive socket.

A draglink socket is way too thick. At least mine is.
