Rear 1 ton or disk brakes
Rear 1 ton or disk brakes
What is your opinions on whether to install the one ton drum brakes on the rear or put on the disk brake conversion.
I do like the idea of a hand brake, but for towing is either good?
Thanks

I did the disk brake conversion and love it... I found the brackets on e-bay for like 65-70 bucks and bought all the stuff at auto zone.. I think I have like 225 bucks in everything... One of the best mods by far... Personally, I hate messing with drum brakes, so for me... It was the only option!!
i converted my ramcharger to a d60 with discs. its was waaay better than stock. only complaint i had was in the winter the pads would freeze to the rotors when it was cold and windy.
if you are concerned about a parking brake with rear disc, you can use rear calipers from a mid-70's cadillac eldorado iirc. its the same as the chevy k20 calipers normally used, but with parking park stuff.

Just to respond to the original Q:
After many trials and tribulations I have to say that I have my, more or less, stock brakes working pretty well.
But I still like the hydro boost brakes on our GM's better.
Good Day,
JP
