really hot oil
i drove the truck to work yesterday for the first time in forever.
drove it home and while it was warm i figured i would do the scheduled oil change reached down to spin the oil filter and the edit thing just about burnt me thought for awhilt and decided to go ahead and pull the drain plug but the oil pan was so hot i could,nt even touch it.
whats going on?
anyone have pics of there oil cooler i just want to make sure i've got the coolant lines hooked up right sounds dumb but doesn't hurt to be positive.
havent gotten above 1150 on the pyro.
ANY SUGGESTIONS.

Engine temp rises after being shut off. With coolant temps in the 180 range they go up to 230 or so after being shut off. Oil temps are higher than that. I would say its normal. Also the hose on the oil cooler being reversed wouldn't make that much difference I don't think.
The engine oil cooler is internal, it's part of the filter mount so you can't hook it up wrong. The cooler on the side of the engine is for the trans. The engine oil is not going to be any cooler than the coolant - would you be surprised if the upper radiator hose was hot after driving?
