Radiator for a 1990 CTD

My Buddy just picked up a 1990 D350. Runs great but needs a radiator. whats the best place to find one? What swaps in there from other years. Looks different than my 1993. Looks like its been repair and its pretty hacked up. Its an Auto trans if that means anything. More questions to come.

They are a downflow as opposed to the crossflow intercooled models. 89-91 will fit. If he plans on an intercooler, or just wants better cooling, swap to the crossflow...they are cheaper anyhow.

New nonIC'd radiator is anywhere from $500-$600. New IC'd radiator runs $200-$350. I just installed an IC'd radiator in my 85 crew with 90 nonIC'd radiator core support. You'll need a t-stat housing from a 91.5-93 IC'd truck or a 94-98 12 valve truck. If you use the 94-98 t-stat housing, you'll need a t-stat and gaskets from it as well as the 1st and 2nd gen's are different, I just found this out. Ebay seems to have the 2nd gen 12V t-stat housing often.

You'll need to fab some small mounts for the radiator to sit on, weld them to the bottom of the core support. The IC'd radiator doesn't 'bolt' in like the old school trucks' radiators do. Then fab or buy the two plates that bolt to the top of the core support and hold the radiator's top two mounting 'arms'. Only one small cut was required at the top of the core support to make room for the IC'd radiator's top two 'arm's.

For the two hoses, I bought both for a 91.5-93 truck.
