93 250 front axle joints

Hi, I was wondering what your experiences with axle joints were as far as brands? I have the Dana 60 4500# axle. I have used Spicer in the past and had the dust seal fall apart after a short period of time. I would like a greasable one, if possible. I would appreciate some input before I run out to Autozone or NAPA. Thanks, Artie

Does Spicer make a servicable joint? And does it last? Just doing my homework before my shop work, Thanks, Artie

I use Spicer part # SPL55-3x...OEM style non serviceable joints...they hold up much better than the serviceable in my opinion. Just lightly pre-grease install properly, and forget about them for another 10 years.

#SPL55-4x is the serviceable joint....but regardless nothing is better than the Spicer parts for durability unless you go for some real high dollar after market stuff. Just one fellas opinion after owning a Dana 60 front axle of one sort or another for 20+ years.

That's the truth, do not use anything from Autozone or Napa, unless they sell Spicer.

If you are near Lafayette, they have a 'Power Train' location. They are a Spicer distributor. http://www.pwrtrain.com/hist.htm
