i have a leak right where the driveshaft and the t-case meet, i just got a rear output seal form autozone and im about to change it, a couple questions..
1. did i get the right seal?
2. will i need gear oil or t-fluid after i change it?
3. how difficult will this be?

That seal is real easy to change. You won't loose much fluid either.

Last time I did that job, I think I used 80/90weight gear oil but, I seem to recall a thread that said ATF. Not to sure right off my head now. Keep waiting, Someone will chime in with a good answer.

NP-205 transfer-cases, I always use 85/140 or 85/90 or whatever I happen to have that is close.

Gear oil is what you want, as Bearkiller said. The thing to look at is the yoke. I replaced my seal, but the yoke had a groove and it's leaking just as much as before since the trashed yoke tore up the new seal. Install a speedie sleeve on the yoke along with a new seal and be leak free...unlike me....hey, I'm a poet and I don't realize it
