Putting 2nd Gen Mirrors on a 1st Gen.. ( PICS)
There's also a set or two of aftermarket ones floating around, try JC Whitney, Rock Auto or Partstrain. Probably not as good a quality, but how bad I don't know. Still, @ $100 each it's a much cheaper option.
Unless you can find a good set at the wreckers.

So, if anybody was wondering what a superduty mirror on our trucks look like, wonder no more. I just robbed the work truck of one to get an idea of how it could look on there.

Apologies for the bad photoshop work to get the stock mirror out of the way.
Here is how it sits in the wing window area

I was thinking about cutting up the housings and making them a bottom mount like the current 4500 chevy trucks. Quick p-shop showing what I mean. Now there are rv mirrors out there already like this, but **** they want some $$$ for them.

I like the look of the Ford mirrors, but I don't like how it covers the vent window. That's just my preference. Think I'll stick to the 2nd gen ones.

Thanks for posting the pic, Gots-a-Sol, good to know what they look like mounted up.
Yes, hummer h2 wheels. I think they look great on the older body style trucks and the fact they can be found cheap is big plus. (I paid $60 for this set, they were sitting in a corner at a shop collecting dust)

I think I might just go with the 'west coast' style mirrors and use the factory base as the lower point. Less holes to drill. Plus they make them in power/heated/lighted versions these days. They would fit the body style of the truck better than the new body style mirrors I imagine.

H2 Hummer rims and I like the look a lot
Towing home one day I blew a tire and the tread ripped off and smashed rear of bed
but luckily we were all safeand since my tires were 16.5 i could not find any decent load E tires.. so I upgraded to some 17" rims and some load E tires

I went the same route with mine.

they fit great, but I had to move them back onto top of roof area away from drip rail so they would fit the roof contour
