Pump leak fixable?
Pump leak fixable?
I have a 93 with 268k miles. My injection pump has formed a leak from the throttle lever. Is there a way to fix it without replacing the pump. I dont know if the pump is original or has ever been replaced. If I do need to replace it where is the cheapest place to buy one. My local shop wants 1k to rebuild it. Seems a little high. Thanks Chris

There is a Safety Recall #605 -- Diesel Fuel Injection Pump. I would check dealer and see if has been done. If not, there is no expiration on recalls. Fuel injection pump replacement is only necessary for pumps manufactured between March and September, 1991 (date codes 163 through 169),Pumps having an infinity symbol (¥) on either the pump data plate or the Mopar Remanufactured Parts data tag have already been repaired and therefore, do not require replacement.

The throttle shaft leak can be fixed with the pump still on the truck. Look in the sticky for info on installing a 3200 RPM spring, replacing that seal involves the same steps. You need a throttle shaft o-ring.
Get a 3200 RPM spring so you can install it while you're in there.
