possibly, you may need to knurl the housing up and put a "liquid steel" in there then put the race back in, but ut needs to fit tight.

Thanks, I got it I pulled the trans out pulled the cover off the countershaft and found the retaining ring off and the shaft had worked its way back cutting the hole in the housing. I welded the housing up ,beat the shaft back where it should be replaced the ring and throwed er back in. 2 people 1 day, not bad huh! Thanks for the reply and thanks to wanna , edwin, G16and everyone else for the help PS also replaced the destroyed trans mount Truck is running great already picked up my load for tommorow

That's cool! Hopefully you can get a few more miles out of it before you need to do more. I'd be wondering why the C-ring came off. Did you put a new one on? If it cut a hole in the TS housing then it must have been spinning which it shouldn't be. Maybe the bearings need to be replaced. You might be better off if you replace them. Maybe somebody let it get low on oil at some point and the bearings siezed up.

It depends on what your plans are but I don't think you've had the last of trouble from it. I bet those bearings are shot and maybe other things. If you just need a few more miles out of it then OK and you can do major work later. Your choice.

Regards

Edwin

I just got back from a 500 mile run and she's holdin up good. The bearings and races looked good. Im not sayin youre wrong edwin but I think the shaft is supposed to turn bcause it is what rides on the bearings at both ends. OK maybe I am sayin youre wrong but im not 100% positive, you prob have more experience w/ these trans but when I beat the shaft back thru thats what it looked like to me I have no idea why the ring came off but Im gonna start savin now so next time the wetrag goes boom NV5600 here we come!

Well, I've never been into a Getrag myself and I was assuming the bearings rolled on the cluster gear and the shaft. I didn't realize that the shaft turned in the bearings. My bad. Did you figure out why the C-ring came off?

I have no idea why it came off but it was kinda loose or open so we took a hammer and tapped it back together so it fit nice and tight on the shaft
