Ppump swap problem
Ppump swap problem
I get ready to bolt down the engine mounts and i cant, so i get to looking at what is hitting, turns out the back of the ppump is hitting the master cylinder. What are my options here?
I think there is an easier solution, im going to try to take the master cylinder off, and get the engine in both engine mounts. a buddy of mine with a ppumped first gen said he had to take his master cylinder off to put pump on then after he reinstalled master cylinder he had about an inch of clearance. So im going to try that and ill report back. Let me know if anyone knows anything about it.
We got the cross member in, engine mounts all bolted up, and it still dont have the clearance needed. The problem i dont believe is in the master cylinder. I called local diesel guy that does this kind of work and he said that their should only be about a 1/4 gap between oil pan/engine crossmember. I have like an 1" gap which says to me, my engine is too high in the front.
So that being said, What are my options to get the engine back down to where it needs to be? Ive always thought that the fan was really close to the shroud at the top.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

check to make sure the motor mounts arent flipped. if they are that will push your motor closer to the firewall/master cylinder. flip them and you should have enough room. there should be a dimple in the mount that lines up w/ a hole in the engine c/m to make sure they are in there correctly
