Power draw when cold.... what is it?

So I fire up my truck and while she is trying to warm up the charge gauge is showing a big draw for a few seconds every 10 sec or so... the lights dim inside and out then up to 12-14v and back down to 6-8v for a few seconds... this goes on until she's warm. Anybody know the cause?
thanks

Sounds like your grid heaters are cycling normal for cold weather.
