Mine is mounted on the lower left side of the dash. Plowed commercially for a few years...and that location, while not perfect, works very well

My headlight switch was spliced into the floor dimmer switch wiring on my 77. For the newer column style dimmer, I'm guessing you'd have to figure out the wiring coming out of the steering column. Basically, when you flip on the plow lights, The auxilliary lights come on, and the factory headlights go off, but all other factory lighting still works. High/low dimmer switch still works the auxilliary plow lights too.

I'll help out if i can.

A while back I went to the Meyers web site and downloaded a full service manual for the pump that goes with that switch. Easy to wire with the book. NAPA has the 12v pump motor. Mine outlasted an 80 Dodge that rusted away and will out last my 98 which is rusting away.
The two lever old switch(yours) is, I think more reliable than the newer joystick deal.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the controller itself? I have the same plow but need to wire up the controls. I tried looking on the Meyer site but couldn't find the wiring for the switches themselves.

I have a 7 1/2' on my 77 W150. I wouldn't go TOO big on a 1st gen CTD. I'd stay at 8' or less. There's guys running 9' plows on 1st gens, but I think thats just asking for problems. Plowing is ROUGH on the trucks. The Cummins can probably push just about any snow you can keep traction on...but the frames take a beating from the weight and side loading forces.

no need to mount a plow on my truck, but if I did I would push a small one - maybe 6'
we don't get that much snow and my old Ariens snowblower is fine for clearing our 45' driveway and 50' of sidewalk
