Last price I had on the pump only was $185.00 right from a cummins dealer. The rest slips my mind.

Why is the low pressure pump more money than the high pressure version?

For about $40 more you could run the HPPLP and a regulator, and be done with it.

Oregon Fuel Injection sells a kit for $132 - HFP702-kit:
http://oregonfuelinjection.com/index...EL_SUPPLY_PUMP

HFP702 is the Delphi pump only and goes for $65.

Also, note the kit doesn't supply the 2 supply line seals (P/N 3963983)

I'm told this is the low pressure pump that puts out ~7psi at idle.

I haven't installed mine yet, but when i do i'll let you know how it went!

The Cummins low pressure pump puts out 12-15psi. The Delphi piston pump is barely better, pressure-wise, than the factory lift pump which puts out 5 psi.

I am wondering why the spacer is needed, is it just to add some clearance externally or does the cam lobe need it internally? Without it will the cam ram the piston too far?

Best to use a known quality product, not a cheap knock off. There is at least 2 companies selling the Genuine Cummins correct high volume, low pressure lift pump with the safe max pressure of 15/16psi for the VE rotary inj pumps.
