Talking Picked a couple races. Man can this thing move if it wants.

A couple days ago I was driving along and stopped at a red light beside an old guy in some kind of Acura. The light turned green and we took off. Once the turbo spooled it took off and i pulled on him up to 65mph.

The second was last night coming back from dinner with some friends me and a buddy lined up at a light. He has a Honda with a bunch of ricer crap and a jap spec B16A. I brake stalled it up to build boost and when we took off i took off hard. The tires spun for about 20-25 feet and i pulled on him. He didnt have a chance.

Now i need to get the boost gauge in and pyro in. Then its on to the stage III compressor and 4" turbo back.

I may have to take it to the 1/8 track this thursday to see what its got. Like a base line to build on.

Be careful with the brake stands and the stock trans. All the torque these things put out can smoke the trans and balloon the converter (even turned up just a little) if you abuse them like that. You don't want to see any more than 5 psi boost during a brake stand.

I guess I'll have to close my eyes or look away while stalling it, because i bet i can hit 10psi before i launch.

If it feels good it must be right.

LOL im not sure closing your eyes will help, i can see 20 psi braking but no real need to, it will still catch most between red lights, just hit that little blue button says water/meth and you'll have a grin on your face bigger than a wave on a slop bucket

Last time I had the opportunity to race from a light it was a Duramax...I was doing him and starting to pull away when the wife yelled at me.
She doesn't get invited to ride along much anymore...LOL

Yea, but how many mods do you need to beat a stock D-max? The LLY D-max with just an Edge juice box and propaine can run 13's all day. By the time you get the 5" exhaust and stack tuners you are low 13's, and cooking the Allison tranny.

I cant down the Cummins, there strong motors and proven reliable. But the D-max has proven to be the power house out of the bunch. It just hasnt had time to prove reliable like the Cummins has. There are a few D-maxes with 200,000 on them, but none i know of hitting 500,000+ like the Cummins.

yeah, but the new cummins, all you have to do is stack boxes and there running 13's and can reliably run higher boost pressures than a d-max without blowing a head gasket.

my point is my truck is 15 years old. dynoed a measely 221 on the rollers. all i did was turn a few screws. i know i cant do anything with a chipped d-max, but the stock ones might as well stay home. see my signature.

you cant compare a 1st gen and a d-max our engines are over 15 years old and the d-maxes are faily new and have a lot of R and D in to them if you want to up grade to newer parts then the first gens will run with them. our engines where taken out of the real world work force (trucks ,tractors and equipment)and stuffed into dodge trucks and turned the diesel pickup market upside down. and the engines are buildt to run at designed max HP 24-7 and not have problems. few d-maxes or 6.0 PS can hold that claim (7.3 PS have a real good record). And which of the 3 do you want to try and work on!

One thing the brand X's will never beat with even their latest equipment: That beautiful sound of 6 in a row I was at lowes picking up some plywood at the 'contractor' entrance and there were a bunch of $40k+ pickups loading up--some gassers, some maxes and strokes and then my little truck that seemed old and tired in comparison to all the shiny new metal parked nearby. But when I got loaded up and hit that key and got the 12 valve puff, those fellers looked out from under their designer oakley glasses and thought 'd#$m, I bought the wrong truck!'

That was before I had too many mods...but that's not the point.
He tought he was gonna do some spankin' to the old hunk of noisy iron in the next lane....
The look on his face was worth the extra three tablespoons of fuel it cost me to put the hammer down.
