Is there a site somewhere that gives you parts and exploded views of our trucks? Like a Chilton's manuel kinda thing on line.

You can buy an annual subscription to a mechanics manual for our trucks from AllData on line -- I think it is around $20, and is pretty good.

Mitchell Online

Mitchell manuals are online too. I use it here at work and with the password I use it at home also.

www.ondemand5.com

You'll have to sign up for your own password though.
Unfortuately I can't give that out.

Could you guy's check and see if either of your sources and see if they show an O ring between the end of the compressor and the 90* metal elbow in the intercooler. Just currious as to if your programs show one.

Thanks

Gary

I've got the parts breakdown but it doesn't show an "O" ring. I'll scan the pic and email it to you. Just need you email or email me direct if you don't want your email published. rammer6400@sympatico.ca

Actually I just looked at my FSM and it doesn't show or mention one at all. just clamps.

I editted my post. You don't have to email me. I've attached the diagram.

Thumbs,.... yes there is a square cut o-ring between the compressor outlet and the aluminum tube leading to the IC.
You should be able to get one locally at a Cummins shop or even order it in. It can't be but a few bucks.....
Let me know if you have trouble and I'll send you one by mail for cheap cheap.

This is the only diagram and reference to an "O" ring in the manual. It's when you separate the compressor housing from the turbo housing and exposing the impeller.

You probably know more than I do Bob. I'm just showing what the manual shows.

Bob is correct. There is a square cut o-ring that is captive in the elbow -- I think that is why it is not listed separately.

Hey thanks guy's I really appreciate all the help here. I am goin to take the thing apart again and see what the story is. I don't remember any seal of any kind at all between the two parts. I'll get back to ya to let ya know what I found out.

I sure need to get this boost up though.

Yeap there's a square O ring in there. I took it apart and put some grease on it and put it back paying particular attention to mateing it to the compressor. Put it all back together and took it out to see if the boost went up. Well it didn't make any difference at all. I still haven't pressure tested it at the compressor yet but plan to in the morning.
