Parking lights on my 93 going crazy

Hello guys
Well I was going to leave last night pulled head light switch on. Then noticed no parking lights. Today I start in on it after checking all fuses are good, I pulled switch out to test the wires to be hot at plug. There was one hot one i believe. Then I stop to go in the house get cup of ice turn around and look the park lights in the grille and the tail lights were working front fender lights were not working
The head light switch was not on. They would stay on with the switch unplugged. I pulled inst. cluster out. Would that make a difference? What color are the wires that should be hot for parking lights at plug? Any help would be awesome and thank y'all for being so helpful in the past thanks Doug

If you have a trailer connector on the back of the truck, the first thing I'd do is have a look inside both ends of it and see if it's full of slush or mud that's partially shorting two circuits together.

Every park/running light on my truck is 18 gauge blk/yl all the way from the switch to the farthest light. The 91.5 wiring diagram in the sticky is the same. Good luck

The head light switch was not on."
There is your clue, "The head light switch was not on."
The only other place the parking/running lights can get power is through the warning flasher circuit. So either the flasher unit is bad or the multifunction (aka blinker) switch is bad.

Wiring problems are pita! I hate electrical problems, but I like the challenge. No no I tolerate the challenge if and when I have time and get my feeble mind into it! My ole ride has wiring gremlins and I'll have to address the problem. I have bought and built the headlight relay setup Jim Lane came up with, just haven't installed it yet. The wiring/engineering on the electrical on these ole rides are at the FAR end of being undesirable. Good luck with it!

Ok last night I just couldn't stand it I was out watching fire burn by chicken pen I went in shop and dug out a two way cig lighter plug in and tied it into a wire that was already hooked up to my black and yellow(or white) the one for parking lights. I.C.E. when I did everything is working perfect. Would that mean it is the head light switch? Blinkers and hazards both work properly. Thanks again. Also, since I pull a trailer half the time I was thinking about going a head and put them on a toggle switch. For sure trailer lights wouldn't hurt. Y'all are all such great help this forum is awesome

Head light switch is a good choice. They see a lot of amps. I replaced mine several years ago and relayed the head lights when I upgraded the wiring. So far I haven't had an y more trouble.

When power gets into a circuit from some other (unknown) source, it usually means that a switch, connector, or even a wiring harness is failing in a big way. Don't find it, and you're setting yourself up for a fire.
