Oil Leaks and Powering up
Oil Leaks and Powering up
I have a 93 4x4 reg cab and I recently had the flex plate go and replaced it. I have since added 4 inch exhaust K&N filter opened up the airbox and just last night turned up the fuel on the pump. It drove awesome today, boost jumped right up tonnes of power and get up and go. All this until after about 60 km of driving I stopped and noticed the pool of oil under the truck. It was literally pouring out from the tranny inspection plate area. My mechanic took one look and said rear main seal. Does this have anything to do with powering up? I think not but thought I'd ask. Also could be related to the flex plate. He said when we were changing the plate he looked at the seal and it looked fine so we didn't change it then.
Thanks
Todd
Re: Oil Leaks and Powering up
Nope, got nothing to do with it. 93 dodges had a problem with rear leaking main seals. Mine did fortunately under warranty. There was a TSB on it if I remember correctly. The power is nice, isn't it?
brad
Re: Oil Leaks and Powering up
Thanks for the response. Find it funny I only got one response though. Guess it isn't a big problem. Anyway are the new seals better? What I mean to say is once it is replaced do I have to constantly stop and check under my truck for oil or do I trust the new one?
The truck only has 150000 kms on it.
Re: Oil Leaks and Powering up
I think the reason the other guys didnt respond is because Blowndodge was right on the money. If properly installed, you shouldnt have to worry about the seal for many many miles.
