Talking Odo repaired and cluster refresh

WHEW!!! My odo has not worked since 05. Finally ordered the gears which were 50.00 !!! Installed and nada. The old gears were stripped so I couldnt figure why it wouldnt work. Took it apart twice and gave up on it about a month ago. So today I needed to fix the dash lights so went to work on it. That was easy, just a fuse. So I thought why not look at the cluster again. Disassembled again for the third time cleaned everything good and made sure the gears were meshed right. LOW AND BEHOLD SUCCESS!!! Am exstatic to have odo working after so long! Also used a sharpie in red to color the gauge needles. This works great very clean looking and dont have to worry about paint making the needle to heavy. Today is goood!!!

Very nice! Never thought of a Sharpie to "paint" the needles. The nail polished I used on mine doesn't seem to have an effect on accuracy. My speedometer is dead nuts with a GPS.

Those suprises are nice to come by and uncommon on my end. Were the gears not fully meshed or binding previously?

I honestly dont know I thought all along they were meshed good but looking where the shaft on the motor that turns the gears theres an indention the end of the shaft goes into I made sure this time it was in it correctly. Also pulled out the armature of the motor and there was oily residue on it it may have been grounding it out. cleaned all the internals good and it works
